A cenote is a natural sink hole resulting from limestone collapsing. Underneath this limestone is a massive river of water. These are common among the Yucatan Peninsula. Many people have discovered these on their properties and made them into tourist attractions. Although the Mayans may have used them for sacrifices they are now wonderful attractions for tourists to visit and enjoy while cooling off in the heat of the Mexican sun. Check out these videos for a first hand look at what you can find there.
